Performance Ensembles
Concert Band
Leader – Michael Young
The Clarence City Concert Band is a mixed wind and percussion C Grade ensemble with over 40 playing members. The band draws on an extensive library and plays a varied repertoire of modern concert band, jazz, blues, rock, and easy listening material. Our players come from all walks of life and span three generations.
The Concert Band’s regular performance commitments include performances across Clarence City as well as competing at state, national, and eisteddfod competitions.
New members are always welcome.
Symphonic Band
Leaders – Andrea McKibben, Lance Cowled
The Symphonic Band takes part in several performances throughout the year, including At Home concerts, school fairs, and other community events. The band participates in local eisteddfods and the Tasmanian Bands League (TBL) State Championships at D Grade level.
Jazz Ensemble
Leader – Michael Young
The Jazz Ensemble is a performance ensemble with a development component, and performs across the community, including at the Clarence Jazz Festival.
Small Ensembles
Leader – Michael Young
- Crosswinds – Crosswinds is a 7-piece chamber ensemble, comprised predominantly of woodwind instruments. Crosswinds performs a diverse range of repertoire, ranging from Baroque through to Contemporary Classical. The ensemble is committed to performing new music, and regularly performs works by local composers. Crosswinds regularly participates in local eisteddfods, and is regularly invited to perform for private functions and community events.
- Double Reed Society – Comprises oboes and bassoons from all levels across the band community.
- Flute Choir – Is open to players with some experience and performs at community events.
